Getting the measurement right is the single most important step in ordering window blinds. Here is how to do it for both mounting styles.

Inside mount

An inside mount fits neatly within the window frame for a clean, built-in look.

  • Measure the exact width of the window opening and order that width, our cordless blinds are made to that precise measurement.
  • Your window frame needs a minimum depth of 2.5 in to fit the headrail.

Outside mount

An outside mount is fitted on the wall or trim above the window, and is a good option for shallow frames or when you want to make a window appear larger.

  • Add 4 in to your window's width to ensure full coverage and minimize light gaps on either side.
  • All sizes are based on the top headrail width. The fabric itself is approximately 1 in narrower than the headrail, which is normal and by design.

A few tips before you order

Measure with a steel tape measure rather than a fabric one for accuracy, and measure in at least two places (top and bottom, or left and right) to account for windows that are not perfectly square, using the smaller measurement for inside mounts. Every SHADESU blind ships with mounting hardware and a full installation guide.
