Common Mistakes
Common Measuring Mistakes
- Measuring an unlevel window — always take width measurements at the top, middle, and bottom, and use the smallest value.
- Rounding measurements — measure to the nearest 1/8 inch (or mm) rather than rounding to the nearest inch.
- Confusing inside-mount and outside-mount — decide your mount type first, as the measuring method differs.
- Forgetting obstructions — check for handles, locks, or trim that could interfere with the headrail or bottom rail.
- Not accounting for depth — for inside mount, confirm your window frame has enough depth for the bracket.
